Split a Document into Chunks
Retrieval pipelines split documents into chunk files before embedding them. Create a chunks directory holding two one-line chunks, then write a manifest.txt that lists both filenames.

Create the lab and chunks directories
mkdir accepts several arguments at once — this creates the lab root and, inside it, a chunks folder. Real pipelines store each chunk as its own file or row so it can be embedded and retrieved independently.
